Jodie Lynn (Howell) Carlson, age 60, was reunited with her family in heaven on August 30th, 2024, after a brave fight with cancer. She was born in Houston, Texas on July 17th, 1964, daughter of Joe Max Howell and Colleen Ann (Martin) Howell.
Jodie grew up in Longview, Texas with her older sister Ann Parker (Howell) Chase. She was the captain of the Pine Tree Pirates High School basketball team and received multiple scholarships. Her skill and dedication allowed her to reach the All-American Team while attending Stephen F. Austin University.
After college, she moved to Casselberry, Florida and married Jonathan Carlson. Together they had two children, Joshua and Jacob. With her deep passion for animals, she started an animal rescue with her close friend, Linda Parrett. Jodie had a special place in her heart for wolves, so much so that she raised one named Mackenzie.
She returned to her home state of Texas and discovered a love for motorcycles and the calling of the open road. Some of her more memorable ventures include Sturgis, Tail of the Dragon and completing the Iron Butt Challenge (1,000 miles within 24 hours).
Jodie was very outgoing and nurtured many personal and business relationships. She received numerous salesmanship awards. With her entrepreneurial spirit, she started and successfully operated her own Proforma Franchise. Jodie grew the company and achieved Million Dollar Club status twice, something she was very proud of.
