James “Mace” Peveler, long-term resident of Canby, Oregon and senior vice president of major projects and project development at Wilson Construction, passed away at the age of 61 on November 25, 2024, after an eight-month long battle with leukemia.
Mace is survived by his mother, Ronna Childers; his children, Katelin and Logan Peveler; his brother, Blane Peveler; and his nephew Blane Peveler II. He is predeceased by his father, Louis Peveler.
Mace was born on October 18, 1963, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He graduated from Pine Tree High School in Longview, Texas in 1982 where he played the drums in the band, eventually becoming band captain. After lots of moving around he welcomed his daughter in 1999 and son in 2001 in Colorado, eventually placing his roots in Oregon and staying there for over 20 years. He traveled all over the country, loved to fish, and was the drummer in a local band.
In his 23 years at Wilson Construction, Mace found great success and was an integral part of the company’s growth. His humble personality and calm leadership attracted a wide variety of talented people to work by his side. However, his greatest accomplishment has always been his children, whom he was immensely proud of. They were the focus of many conversations as he was always excited to discuss their future.
To know Mace was to love him, and he was loved by many. His memory will remain in the hearts of his family, friends and all those who were honored to know him. His legacy will live on, inspiring those around him with his kindheartedness, generosity, and witty sense of humor.
